Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy
Born at Puerto Sagunto in 1960, he graduated and got a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery. He is currently a full-university professor at the Department of Physiology. He was elected Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy in February 2015.
At the beginning of his Medicine and Surgery studies, he started to collaborate - as a student- with his current research group, obtaining in 1983 the Intern Student Competition-based Test and in 1985, year in which he graduated, he was awarded as Honorific Collaborator. In 1990, he obtained the Doctor’s degree. He has developed postdoctoral stays at the University of Murcia (1991) and in the university of Mississippi Medical Center (1991-1992), granted by MEC. Since 1987, year in which he got a job as a University School Assistant linked to the old Physiotherapy School. has developed his university task in three variants:
- Teacher.- He participates in several certificates and in third cycle, highlighting his teaching activity in Physiology at the University School of Physiotherapy. He edited a publication which was awarded in 2008 and which leads with the teaching of Physiology in the frame of the European convergence (Lilly Foundation). He has directed 15 doctoral theses and several TFM. He has five five-yearly increments of teaching.
- Research.- Centred in the circulatory system: a)heart, both in the protection of the ischemic myocardium and reperfusion in live models as basic studies in cardiac electrophysiology in isolated heart models of rabbits and pigs; and b) experimental studies on hypertension for different live models. Scientific contributions are distributed in over 40 articles and over 100 participations in congresses. He has collaborated in 18 projects (public funds) and research contracts. He has four six-yearly increments of research.
- Management: Vicesecretary at the Department of Physiology; director of the Department in Physiology; member of the Eje7 in the Strategic Plan; member of the Group of lab officials improvement; member of the Health Committee; of the Ethics Committee for animal experimentations; he is assessor of research projects at ANEP; member of the experts group at ACADEMIA; scientific magazines reviewer; congress organiser, both as a member and as president of the Scientific Committee. Secretary at the Spanish Society of Physiological Sciences.
