On Saturday, 16th of February, Erasmus and International students of the Universitat de València will have the chance to discover the cultural heritage of Sagunto, Camp de Morvedre's capital. Sagunto's City Council, in collaboration with the Universitat de València, is focused on the process of nomination for UNESCO's World Heritage Site title.

The first trip of the spring edition of Erasmus al Territori will take place next Saturday, 16th February. The destination of this first trip is Sagunto, the regional capital of Camp de Morvedre. The students will visit the historic centre, where they will see the Roman theatre, the Castle, the streets of the Juderia, St Mary’s Church and the Main Square. In addition, they will have the chance to taste typical dishes at lunch.

The Vice-Principal for Internationalization and Cooperation, Carles Padilla, has emphasised the success of the Erasmus al Territori programme, as well as its ability to enable the integration of the Incoming students. “Students’ personal development beyond their degree, language knowledge or international mobility is getting more and more valuable. Direct contact with the territory and the culture of the country or region of destination—the Valencian Community in this case—is what is actually going to enrich this young people’s education and abilities forever. The increasing involvement is a clear proof of the success of the programme” Carles Padilla says.

“The purpose is to visualise the patrimonial value of Sagunto and Camp de Morvedre and foster the international projection of the classical antiquity and the history of Sagunto through students that come from all around the world” says the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, Jorge Hermosilla. He has also highlighted that this trip, as well as the Universitat d’Estiu de Sagunt—whose third edition is going to take place this year—are the result of a “close cooperation between the local government and the Universitat de València”.

Next trips will be Requena (2nd March), la Ribera Alta (30th March) and Ares dels Oms (13th April). The purpose of this programme is to make the towns of our province known by means of touristic-educational itineraries that include trips, guided visits to the historical monuments and natural areas and local gastronomy.

The Erasmus al Territori programme has been organised by the Universitat de València through the Vice-Principal office for Territorial Projection and Society and the Vice-Principal office for Internationalization and Cooperation, in collaboration with the Language Centre of the Universitat and the city councils of Sagunto, Requena, Carcaixent, Alzira and Ares dels Oms.

All Erasmus and International Program students who are studying at the Universitat de València during the second semester may enrol for the next Erasmus al Territori trips here.
