On May 16, 2025, Manuel Roldán-Pardo defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy of the University of Valencia. The dissertation, titled Emerging perspectives in intervention programs for intimate partner violence perpetrators: goal setting, group-related variables, and satisfaction with the intervention, focuses on intervention programs aimed at individuals who perpetrate intimate partner violence.

The evaluation committee awarded the dissertation the distinction of Excellent Cum Laude with International Mention, recognizing its valuable contribution to scientific knowledge in the fields of gender-based violence, psychological intervention, and program evaluation.

The dissertation brings together three studies: a systematic review of group variables in intervention, an analysis of the change goals of Programa Contexto participants, and the development of a scale to measure satisfaction with the intervention. The findings highlight the importance of variables such as group dynamics, therapeutic leadership, motivational strategies, and participant satisfaction in improving program effectiveness.

This milestone represents a significant step forward for research in social psychology applied to intimate partner violence and reinforces the University of Valencia’s commitment to generating rigorous and practice-oriented knowledge.
