The conference entitled “Intimate partner violence: Intervention strategies tailored to perpetrator characteristics and risk factors,” organized by the Contexto Program, the PSIMA Association, and the University of Valencia, was a resounding success in terms of attendance and participation.
The conference took place on October 3 at ADEIT, and was attended by more than 140 professionals and organizations committed to the prevention of intimate partner violence.
The aim of the conference was to raise awareness of research into the effectiveness of intervention with perpetrators, highlighting the importance of applying intervention strategies based on scientific evidence.
The conference began with an opening ceremony attended by Asunción Quinza, Regional Secretary for Equality and Diversity, Felipe del Baño, Commissioner for the Fight against Violence against Women of the Valencian Regional Government, and Sylvia Martínez, Head of Equality and Diversity Initiatives at the University of Valencia. The contributions of Professor Marisol Lila, director of the Contexto Program, and Professors Luis Moya (University of Valencia) and Gail Gilchrist (King's College London) generated considerable interest among attendees.
The panel discussions on the application of neurocriminology and advances in research in the Contexto Program emphasized the need to evaluate and disseminate the positive results obtained by intervention programs with perpetrators.
These conferences were made possible thanks to the support and funding of the European Network for the Work with Perpetrators, the Prometeo Program of the Generalitat Valenciana, and the agreement established between the University of Valencia and the Vice Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana for intervention with intimate partner violence perpetrators. In addition, the great management and organizational work of the Contexto Program team made it possible for the conferences to be held successfully.
From the Contexto Program, we would like to thank everyone who attended for their participation and interest in continuing to make progress in eradicating violence against women. Thank you very much!
