Exploring human driving behaviour

Laboratory for the exploration of human driving behaviour using different technologies. It consists of a driving simulator, tests for measuring psychophysical and psychological aptitudes and a device for measuring visual campimetry.

Force platform

Force platform with 4 piezoelectric sensors.

Immersive Simulation System

Immersive CAVE system. It allows to conduct sensation tests on people for training or evaluation of behaviours in real situations, through the simulation of the environment. It consists of 4 rear projection screens that form a cabin, capable to reproduce images in 3 dimensions. This system is located on the floating base of a 6 degrees of freedom Steward movement platform, so it can be moved and rotated at will. Inside the cab is an industrial seat, that the simulator operator gets on. Additionally, there is a computer system based on a high-performance computing cluster with 5 processing nodes and 4 latest-generation GPUs.

Intervention, awareness-raising and road re-education programme

Material used for intervention, awareness-raising and re-education courses on the points-based driving licence.

Laboratory of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing

Professor Julia Salom is the person in charge of the Laboratory of GIS and Remote Sensing located at the Faculty of Geography and History of the UV. Its aim is to provide the necessary infrastructure for making cartography associated with its research projects, as well as for researching in the field of Geographic Information Systems. It has a server and several networked computers, in which different specialised programmes are installed along with the corresponding peripherals for data input and output.

Lyophilisation

Technique that allows the lyophilisation of biological material.

Microbial characterisation (bacteria, archaea, filamentous fungi and yeasts)

Microbial characterisation using several approaches.

Microbial identification (bacteria, archaea, filamentous fungi and yeasts) by sequencing of essential genes.

Microbial identification by essential gene sequencing.

Microbial identification and characterisation by MALDI-TOF MS (matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry)

The MALDI-TOF MS technique allows obtaining the characteristic protein profile of a microbial strain from the analysis of its ribosomal proteins, mainly.

Microbial strain deposit
  • Deposit of strains of archaea, bacteria, filamentous fungi and yeasts up to risk group 3* according to the definition of Royal Decree 664/1997 of 12 May 1997.
  • Deposit of phages of microbial strains up to risk group 2 according to the definition of Royal Decree 664/1997 of 12 May 1997.
Microbiological reference material

The CECT has a public catalogue that includes more than 8000 strains of bacteria, archaea, filamentous fungi and yeasts. It also has the Mengovirus vMCO and will soon incorporate some phage strains.

Mid-range simulator

Simulation system composed of 2 55-inch 3-D LED TVs, industrial seat, industrial joysticks, keypads and 2 degrees of freedom CKAS platforms. Additionally, it connects to a Supercomputer with 4 latest generation NVidia GTX 670 graphics cards. The result allows to simulate any environment with a high degree of realism.

Preparation, assembly and analysis of microbial genomes

DNA extraction, whole genome sequencing (WGS), assembling, determination of quality parameters, genomic analysis...
