This project studies the two main sources of influence in the life of young athletes: family and the team where they play basketball. This way, we can define how the social identity of the youngsters is built can be defined, as well as their commitment with training basketball and learning skills for their lives through basketball. The main goal is to examine the connexions between the different sports socialization agents of male and female basketball players in the province of Valencia. Therefore, the two most influential contexts of players will be taken into consideration: family context (mother and father or equivalent figures) and the sports context (coach and teammates).
