Racism in football affects careers and opportunities, both at the amateur and professional level. This session will analyse institutional racism and offer strategies for change.

The European Women's Football Championship takes place in July, celebrating athletic excellence and the spirit of a European football festival. We would like to use this occasion to also highlight a less visible but deeply rooted aspect: the structural racism that continues to shape the sport at all levels.

Racism in football is not confined to incidents in the stands - it's deeply rooted in both amateur and professional structures. From talent scouting to coaching and leadership positions, racial bias affects careers and opportunities in ways that often go unnoticed. This 90-minute online session on Tuesday, June 3, combines an interactive lecture with workshop elements to examine racism in football from two angles: a research-based analysis of how racism operates within football institutions, and an anti-racist educational approach that highlights real-life experiences and practical strategies for change. Who gets selected? Who advances into leadership roles? Where do structural barriers exist, and how can they be addressed? This session will provide insights and tools to help better understand and challenge racism beyond the obvious.
