
The Universitat de València has called the second workshop of dissemination of doctoral theses to show the research done by the people from the pre-doctoral training of the institution, awarding the communicative ability of the doctoral students, promoting the interest on dissemination and scientific communication and contributing to the increment of scientific culture in citizenship. The workshop includes three awards and will be celebrated next 26 September.
he application to participate will be presented through the register on the website esdeveniments.uv.es before 16 July and the works must be done with a simple and accessible language to the great public, in an intervention of a maximum time of 4 minutes. The three awards that will be given will be of 300, 500 and 200 euros. The workshop will take place in the Espai Vives of the Universitat de València. One of the three awarded people will participate in the finals of the dissemination contest of thesis for researchers in their initial pre-doctoral period from all the associated universities to FORTHEM.
The FORTHEM Researchers Grand Prix 2025 will be celebrated on 6 November in the Universitat Bourgogne Europe de Dijon (France). The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation, will offer a training for the selected person, that will have to defend their thesis in 4 minutes in English, and will be in charge of any trip expenses to the city of Dijon for the final.
The people enrolled in any of the doctoral programmes of the Universitat de València, at least in the second semester, with an active enrolment and regularly paying in the academic year 2024/2025, will be able to participate in this workshop. It will be mandatory to not have defended the thesis in the date of the workshop celebration, 26 September, 2025 and to count with the approval of the thesis managers. A dissemination text of a maximum of 1.500 words in Valencian, Spanish or English, in which the thematic of the research and the impact it might have are presented, must be attached to the application form.
Previous to this workshop, the management of the Escola de Doctorat will announce the preliminary jury integrated by three members, that will select a maximum of 16 people among all the application forms presented, and they will be the ones to participate on-site in the workshop. The selection criteria the maximum of 16 participants will be expositive clarity and text structure (up to 3 points); the interest on the research and coherence (3 points); creativity and originality (3 points) and the correct use of syntax, orthographic rules and non-sexist language (1 point).
For the 26 September act, the jury will be formed by María Amparo Tórtola Baixauli, director of the Escola de Doctorat of the Universitat de València (Department of Theoretical Physics); Rafael Castelló Cogollos (Department of Sociology and Social Anthropologyl); Gianni Gallello, (Department of Prehistory, Archaeology and Old History); Carlos Romá Mateo (Department of Fisiology) and Julia Suso López (Department of Finance Economy and Accounting).
On Friday, 26 September there will also be a conference by Anabel Forte, researcher from the Department of Statistics and Operative Researcher of the Universitat de València, with the title La divulgación como modo de supervivencia, in which the role of scientific dissemination will be analysed like a wall against misinformation, as well as a communication tool.
