Start-up “Sistemas Accesibles”, an inclusive entrepreneurship project to facilitate accessibility to museums and art galleries for people with visual disabilities or blindness wins the ARTemprén contest

On 9 May took place the final phase of the ARTemprén contest, the entrepreneurship programme in contemporary art and cultural heritage that the University of Valencia organises through the Entrepreneurship Unit (UVemprén) with the sponsoring of Santander Universities and in collaboration with the Martínez Guerricabeita Collection. The public exhibition of the 7 projects was carried out during this event, and after completing the training programme, the winners opted for one of the three prizes.

14 teams and 22 people participated in this second edition of the contest. Among the applications, there are graduate, postgraduate and PhD students of the following faculties: Faculty of Geography and History, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Teacher Training, Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences.

The projects that participated in the final phase are the following:

  • Project 1: “Regalos Envolventes”: a retail trading company of auxiliary products for culture.
  • Project 2: “Sistemas Accesibles”: a company dedicated to adaptation of works of art and their description to a touchscreen system, through edition, processing and 3D printing.
  • Project 3: “La Cambra”: an online sales platform that aims to give visibility to valencian and national art and handicraft.
  • Project 4: “Saladeta”: a sustainable online trading company that designs and sells craft pieces produced by Spanish artists.
  • Project 5: “ColmenARTes”: a company specialised in the creation of artistic spaces into rural settings, characterised by the presence of artistic hives, where high quality artisan apiculture products can be bought.
  • Project 6: “Festival Cutural de Microteatro”: a cultural and entertainment company that will have as draft matrix and launch the “Festival Cultural de Microteatro”, made in the rural environment in order to make culture accessible in the ‘España Vaciada’.
  • Project 7: “SanArte”: a consulting company that coordinates artistic solutions to the improvement of the patient’s well-being and promotion of health in an outpatient level reducing assistance pressure.

On this occasion, it was not easy for the Evaluation Committee, because the 7 presented projects have a high potential to constitute as a start-up. After considerable deliberation, the outcome was the following:

  • The first prize of €5.000 has been awarded to the “Sistemas Accesibles” project by Mario Lucas Fuertes.
  • The second prize of €2.500 has been awarded to “SanArte” by Vicent Arbona Sendra and Anna Arbona Sendra.
  • The third prize of €2.500 has been awarded to “La Cambra” by María Canut Grau and Aida Vanessa Flores Guerrero.

Uvemprén congratulates all the participants and encourages them to keep working on their business ideas.
