General services

The General Foundation of the Universitat de València counts with a structure of general services in order to provide support to all the activities that take place in agreement with UV programmes, departments, areas and units. Its main objective is that all the administrative and accounting tasks are accomplished properly and efficiently, as well as guaranteeing that the legal, accounting and tax obligations are fulfilled.

The General Services are structured as follows:

Management                                                

Management coordinates and supervises the planning and implementation of all the programmes and projects of the different areas of activities, guaranteeing that the aims of the foundation are accomplished and that the institution is properly visible. In addition, it coordinates the relationship with the different programmes and departments by contacting their respective managers. It coordinates the contacts between the governing bodies, the Executive Council and the Board of Trustees; and guarantees the fulfilment of the agreements that have been adopted. It is responsible of contacting other public and private institutions with which the General Foundation of the Universitat de València wants to interact because of their field of action.

Department of the administration and accounting

This department is responsible of tasks regarding accounting, tax, budget and recruitment control, treasury, prevention of occupational risks... that are stablished by different regulations. They also write economic and financing reports that are required internally or externally.

Legal department

It writes judgements on the aspects that have been analysed of the different situations and proposals that are required by the management. It judges civil, trade and administrative aspects as well as the specific regulations of the foundations. It informs management on the modifications that may take place on the applicable normative and the possible effects on the activity of the Foundation.

Department of Human Resources

The Department of Human Resources is in charge of managing the personnel. Therefore, it formalises the contracts, manages the salaries, the recruitment of new personnel, permissions, vacancies, time off sick or any other issue linked to ordinary management in terms of personnel. In addition, it coordinates the tasks related to prevent occupational risks.

IT department

The IT department aims to provide IT technical support to all the programmers, departments, projects and units of the General Foundation.

Department of Marketing and Communication

The Department of Marketing and Communication designs and develops tasks related to marketing, image, advertisement, communication and dissemination of activities and projects that the Universitat undertakes with the support of the Foundation by means of its different departments, areas and programmes. The main objective is achieving proper social visibility by adopting policies of image and communication.

Regarding the screening of the graphic image of the Universitat de València, the task developed alongside with La Tenda de la Universitat stands out. It has consisted in adding the graphic identity of the UV to the promotional and corporative products.

In terms of press and communication, it provides information about the programmes and projects of the Foundation. The main lines of work are the following:

  1. Disseminating accurate and updated information about the activities of the Universitat de València by means of  its services, projects, areas and programmes to the university community (Teaching and researching staff, administrative staff and students) and the Valencian society.
  2. Expanding its presence to other Spanish regions by contacting general mass media (press, radio, TV and Internet) and the Spanish Association of Foundations.
  3. Providing support to the services, units, areas and departments of the foundation in terms of internal and external communication.

200 press notes have been published in 2018.

Strategic plan

In 2018, several strategic plans have been conducted:

The social media of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València have been consolidated. The general foundation publishes general news on the different areas of the institution. It has 452 followers on Facebook and 454 in Twitter (@FundacioUV). Additionally, the social media of Opal have been improved in 2018 and a new account has been created on Instagram (@uvocupacio).

The Professional Placement and Careers Advice Monitoring Centre (OPAL) counts since 2018 with a new web portal, which is visually more attractive and makes navigation easier in all the tools of the service. With UVjobs the Universitat has it easier to disseminate and promote labour insertion among its students and graduates. By the same token, the presence of the Fòrum d´Ocupació at the faculties has been promoted with more meetings created ad hoc for each occasion.

In terms of culture, the Foundation supports the programme European School of Thought Lluís Vives. Only in 2018, the school organised 34 activities such as debates, conferences, seminars and book presentations. More than 40 experts participated in these activities, including important public figures such as Carmen Calvo, Javier Defelipe, Paula Bonet, Elvira Lindo, Inmaculada Rodríguez Piñero, Javier Plaza and Jo Freeman. Equally, the Foundation has worked closely with the Office of the Vice-principal for Culture and Sport in the management and dissemination of the programme Art i Ment, which is a project of sociocultural intervention aiming to promote culture, artistic expression and the successful social integration of minors. 

On the other hand, the General Foundation continues to provide its collaboration to the management of the project IMP (Programme of International Assessment) of the Office of the Vice-principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation.

Awards and recognitions

The following awards were given in 2018:

  • Nomination of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Universitat de València to the “1st edition of the Awards Carles Santos de la Música Valenciana” for the record “La música del grup dels joves”.
  • Special recognition of the jury of the Award “PEARLE Live Performance Europe” given by the Liga Europea de las Federaciones de Empresas de Artes Escénicas to the project Erasmus+ Scene Network for the promotion of heritage through culture and arts.
