An international team led by Rafael Marquina --postdoctoral researcher Margarita Salas from the University of Valencia (UV)-- has studied the fossil remains of small vertebrates recovered on Illa Grossa, the largest of the islands that make up the Columbretes archipelago. The paleontological study allows us to know the fauna of small vertebrates that inhabited the islet and confirms that the snakes that inhabited the archipelago were vipers.
