Presentation

Research pertaining to sexual health began in 1995 with the study of facilitating and maintaining factors of risk behaviours for HIV infection. With time the focus shifted to incorporate the promotion of sexual health beyond the prevention of HIV/AIDS to include different groups of individuals and new purposes, such as the health of male sex workers, preventing sexual abuse in adults with intellectual functional diversity, affective-sexual education for adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum, identifying the myths that disrupt a healthy sexual development in both the young and the old, and more recently the study of the sexual health of children and adolescents in the protection system who have been victims of abuse, as well as those under court order. The study of the sexual health of these groups has led us to delve deeper into aspects such as the search for sexual sensations, homophobia, sexting, and the consumption of cybersex and porn. This extensive line of work is the objective of an interuniversity group of researchers from two universities (University Jaume I of Castellón and the University of Valencia) who collectively make up nearly 30 years of collaborative work and have made numerous contributions to national and international conferences, book chapters, monographs, theses and, above all, publications in high impact journals in the field.
