On 10 and 11 November, Requena will host the seminar 'Women artists on the contemporary Spanish scene', a seminar dedicated to analysing the long and complex process through which women artists overcame the scant consideration and social value they received as professionals in the first half of the 19th century, until, late in the first half of the 20th century, they were able to gain access to training, professionalisation and visibility that was aimed at ending the discrimination they had been subjected to. A historical process that will be projected onto the present to compare it with the current situation of women artists and to conclude whether equality between women and men artists has been achieved.
