The Institute of Human Rights at the University of Valencia wishes to express its support for the candidacy of Professor Ignacio Campoy Cervera as a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child for the period 2027–2031
This candidacy, put forward by the Ministry of Youth and Children, represents a particularly valuable opportunity to strengthen a vision of the protection of children’s rights from a human rights perspective within a body that is the authoritative interpreter of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Ignacio Campoy is a member of the Gregorio Peces-Barba Institute of Human Rights at the Carlos III University of Madrid. His academic and research career has been closely linked to the study of human rights, with a particular focus on the rights of children and adolescents, the rights of persons with disabilities, inclusive education, inclusive equality and non-discrimination. In the same vein, the Ministry of Youth and Children has highlighted his solid, rigorous and committed track record in the field of children’s and adolescents’ rights, as well as his technical expertise and experience in the academic and legal spheres.
At the Institute, we particularly value the fact that this candidacy offers a rigorous, specialised and committed perspective on the effective guarantee of the rights of children and adolescents, in an international context where it is essential to strengthen international mechanisms for guaranteeing rights and to ensure comprehensive protection for children and adolescents.
For all these reasons, we encourage you to learn about and support the candidacy of Professor Ignacio Campoy Cervera for the Committee on United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child.
