María del Mar Rivas Carmona will offer a talk on Friday 26 May

Within the activities of the Master’s Degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation many conferences are programmed. The next one will take place on 26 May at 10:00 in ‘Cesar Simón’ Boardroom, located at the first floor of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication.

The conference, entitled Intermediation or co-authoring?: A pragmatic-cognitive approach to the Spanish translation of Woman and Labour (1911) by Olive Schreiner, will be taught by María del Mar Rivas Carmona, from the University of Cordoba.

María del Mar Rivas graduated in English Philology at the University of Seville and completed a doctorate in this same specialty at the University of Cordoba. Additionally, she has worked as professor at Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass., EEUU), at the Complutense University of Madrid, at the University of Seville and currently is Full Professor of the Department of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Cordoba.

Among her research lines we can point out discourse analysis, gender studies, literary translation and agri-food translation. She has published several books and many articles in journals on these topics. In addition, she is responsible for the project “Translaton linguistic management of agro-food commercial relationships at Cordoba’s province” of the University of Cordoba.
