Biography | ||
Andrea Artusi is Associate Professor in the Department of French and Italian Philology at the Universitat de València. He holds a degree in ‘Lingue e Letterature Straniere’ (Spanish and English) from the Università degli Studi di Verona (Italy) and a degree in Translation and Interpreting and a PhD in Translation from the Universitat de València (international PhD). His main lines of research are contrastive linguistics, lexicography and literary translation. He has been a member of research and teaching innovation projects in machine translation, lexicography and translation didactics. He has carried out international research stays in centres of excellence such as the Università degli Studi di Milano and the Università degli Studi di Trento. Her most recent work focuses on the translation of phrasal verbs in various language combinations. She is a member of the CiTrans research group (Intercultural Communication and Translation). |

Biography | ||
Manuel Asensi Pérez is Professor of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature. He has been visiting professor at several universities in the U.S, Latin America and Europe. His fields of expertise are literary theory, the relations between cinema and literature, and the field of Lacanian psychoanalysis. Among his most important books include Theoría de la lectura. For a paradoxical critique (1987), Literary theory and deconstruction (1992), Philippe Sollers, Tel Quel and the genesis of French post-structuralism (2004), Criticism and sabotage (2013), the latter book deserving of several monographs in journals such as Anthropos (2014) and Quaderns de Filologia (2021) and which inaugurated a new critical modality. The last book published is Lacan para multitudes o por qué no se puede vivir sin Lacan (2023), a book that is already in its second edition. |

Natalia M. Campos Martín holds a PhD in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga and a degree in French Philology from the University of Castilla-La Mancha. She holds a certificate as an Expert in Legal, Sworn, and Judicial Translation from UCLM and a Master's degree in Editorial Translation from UMU. Currently, she is a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication (Department of French and Italian Philology) at the University of Valencia. She has two six-year research periods recognised and is accredited as a university senior lecturer. She teaches various subjects at the University of Valencia within the Degree in Translation and French Philology and the Master's in Creative and Humanistic Translation. Additionally, she has participated as a guest lecturer in similar Master's programmes at the universities of Murcia, Córdoba, and Málaga. Her research career began in 2006 within the Inter-University Research Group in Translation (HUM 767) of PAIDI at the Regional Government of Andalusia and continued with a research project funded by the Séneca Foundation through a competitive call (2011-2013). In this context, she completed her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Emilio Ortega Arjonilla on the legal-economic translation of contracts from French to Spanish. After relocating to Valencia, she joined the research group HISTRADCYT (focusing on the history of scientific and medical translation) in 2014, which has been affiliated with the López Piñero Inter-University Institute since 2018. In this framework, she has actively participated in various R&D projects (both national and European - AGIS), projects of the Valencian Regional Government (2016-2017), as well as teaching innovation projects and other research and development activities (organisation of conferences, seminars, etc.). Among her research outcomes, she has published over 50 works, including books, articles in specialised journals, book chapters, translations, and reviews. Her publications include two monographic books, 15 articles in indexed translation journals (Onomazéin, Sendebar, Hermeneus, Hikma, etc.), and more than 35 book chapters published by prestigious publishers ranked highly in the SPI index (Peter Lang, Comares, Tirant lo Blanch), as well as in renowned university presses (Cádiz, Valencia, Salamanca, Lleida, Córdoba, and La Laguna). Regarding the dissemination of her research, she has participated in more than 20 scientific conferences and seminars, including 15 presentations at international conferences, over eight invited lectures, and numerous roles in organising committees. She has collaborated with several universities and research centres in Spain (UMA, UAL, UGR, UCO, and UCLM), Belgium (ISTI in Brussels), Argentina (University of Rosario), Poland (University of Krakow), France (Lyon 2 and 3, Grenoble), and Canada (University of Montreal). She undertook research stays at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Málaga (2006) for the development of her doctoral thesis and later as a visiting lecturer in 2016. More recently, she has completed postdoctoral research stays as a visiting researcher through competitive grants from the Valencian Regional Government at the University of Lyon 2 (2020, 2021) and Lyon 3 (2024) for various research projects involving the Lacassagne archives, among others. She also completed a three-month research stay in 2022 at the University of Montreal, under the supervision of Professor Georges Bastin. José Fernando Carrero Martín holds a PhD from the Universitat de València, where he is also a professor. He is a member of the CiTrans (Comunicación Intercultural y Traducción) research group and has extensive experience as a professional translator, specializing in technical and touristic translation as well as interpreting. Additionally, he collaborated as a text encoder for the CORPES XXI (Corpus del Español del Siglo XXI) Project of the Real Academia Española de la Lengua (with the Universitat de València team). He has served on the boards of the Asociación Española de Traductores e Intérpretes en Formación (AETI) and La Xarxa – Red de Traductores e Intérpretes de la Comunitat Valenciana. His primary research areas include audiovisual translation and its history, descriptive translation studies, and the professional translation environment. |

Professor at the University of Valencia, in the Department of French and Italian Philology. She has been Vice Dean of Foreign Relations of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. She is Director of the Culture Service of the University of Valencia since January 2021. She teaches literature and audiovisual arts and is a specialist in the relationships between literature and image (cinema and comics) from an intercultural and gender perspective. Since 2019, he has been part of the Chair of Comic Studies and the Comics Classroom at the University of Valencia. Senior Lecturer in Media Studies at the University of Valencia (Spain). He has been researching the history of cinema and the political effects of popular culture while his main teaching interests focus on documentary film, Spanish film, popular music and audio-visual translation. He also served as a research fellow and a visiting professor in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. He coordinated the Master’s Degree in Interculturality, Communication and European Studies at the University of Valencia and the Marie-Curie research projects “Cultural narratives of crisis and renewal” and "Archives in transition. Collective memories and subaltern uses" at the same institution. He has published many articles dedicated to cinema and music in various international journals. He has also authored books such as “Frank Zappa en el infierno. El rock como movilización para la disidencia política” (Madrid, Biblioteca Nueva, 2006) “Madrid. Visiones cinematográficas de los años 1950 a los años 2000” (Neuilly-sur-Seine, Atlande, 2014), and edited others, such as “Cine, imagen y representación en Guy Debord” (Valencia, Tirant, 2019). Since obtaining my doctorate in 1994, I have been occupied with different topics of general linguistics in the postdoctoral period until I began, after my stay at the University of Heidelberg in 1992 with a grant from the Alexader von Humboldt Foundation, a thematic reorientation in the field of translatology and contrastive linguistics (Aspects of Linguistic Contrast and Translation. The Natural Perspective, Frankfurt, Peter Lang, 1994), with a special focus on intercultural pragmatics (Culturas y Acción Comunicativa. Introducción a la Pragmática Intercultural, Barcelona, Octaedro, 1999). This stage lasted throughout the 1990s until the beginning of the new century, when, without abandoning previous lines of research, such as pragmatics and intercultural communication, I focused my interest on the field of clinical linguistics. Research in this field has centered on the characterization of the linguistic deficit in aphasia, taking into account data from conversational interactions involving subjects with aphasia. In the monograph Inhibición y Lenguaje, A Propósito de la Afasia y la Experiencia del Decir, Madrid, Biblioteca Nueva, 2006, the theoretical bases of my research in clinical linguistics are established. During this period I have been principal investigator of 5 research projects and one special action with ministerial funding, and one research project with regional funding.

Dr Sergio Maruenda-Bataller is a senior lecturer in English Language and Linguistics at the Institute of Applied Modern Languages (IULMA) and the Department of English and German Studies at the University of Valencia, with teaching and research experience for more than 20 years. His research interests have mainly focused on Corpus-Assisted Discourse Studies (CADS) as applied to gender inequalities in socio-ideological texts. As a member of the research group Gentext, he specialises in the critical analysis of gender violence and discourses in news media and has taken part in 5 funded projects that have involved expert international teams. Dr Maruenda-Bataller has extensively published on such diverse topics as cognitive pragmatics, critical discourse analysis, digital media and, lately, on evaluative discourse and the linguistic (cross-cultural) representation of violence against women in news media. He has worked lately on the discursive news values analysis (DNVA) of news reports on gender(ed) violence(s) and ethical reporting and on the communicative dimension of online grooming. |

Dr. Juan José Martínez Sierra is a Full Professor in the Department of English and German Studies at the Universitat de València. Within this department, he instructs courses on Written and Audiovisual Translation, Intercultural Communication, and English Language at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He earned his doctorate in Translation Studies from Universitat Jaume I in 2004, complemented by a degree in English Language and Culture from UJI in 1995, as well as an MA in Intercultural Communication from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, USA, in 2001. His primary area of expertise lies in Audiovisual Translation, which comprises a significant portion of both his teaching curriculum and research endeavors. His research predominantly revolves around the study of audiovisual translation from an intercultural standpoint. This pursuit has yielded a prolific array of engagements, including lectures, seminars, invited talks, and presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Martínez Sierra boasts an extensive publication record, encompassing over 100 works, such as books, book chapters, reviews, and numerous articles in esteemed scientific journals. He serves as the coordinator for CiTrans and collaborates actively with the research groups SILVA (Universitat de València) and TRAMA (UJI). |

Evelio Miñano Martínez is a Professor of French Philology in the Department of French and Italian Philology at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication of the University of Valencia. He was graduated from this University in Romance Philology (French) in 1984, with the degree thesis L'image dans la poésie de Philippe Jaccottet and in 1987 with the Ph thesis Imagen y experiencia de la realidad en la poesía de Yves Bonnefoy, both works directed by his teacher, Dr. Elena Real Ramos. After working as a lecturer in Spanish language at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour in 1984-1985, he has pursued his professional career at the University of Valencia until today. He has carried out various teaching tasks in the field of French Philology, within the different undergraduate and graduate syllabuses which have been developed since he joined the Universitat de València in 1985: French language, history of the French language, commentary on literary texts, French literature of different genres and periods, etc. He has also taught on doctoral courses and, later, on master's degrees at the Universitat de València. He currently teaches on the Master's Degree in Humanistic and Creative Translation (French-Spanish section) and has taught Master's Degree in Research in Languages and Literatures. He has also taught on the Master's Degree in Comparative Literature and Cultural Criticism (online degree of the University of Valencia). He has developed several lines of research, in connection with the subjects he has taught. His first research work, as part of his doctoral thesis, focused on contemporary French poetry, with some incursions into other periods. He has published articles and book chapters on the poetry of Philippe Jaccottet, Yves Bonnefoy, Marguerite Yourcenar, Lorand Gaspar, Jean Cocteau, Salah Stétié, Anise Koltz, Eugène Guillevic, Pierre Pascal, Jean Claude Renard, Édouard Glissant, Pierro Oster, Fancis Ponge, Max Jacob, Jude Stéfan, André Salmon and Jean-Michel Maulpoix. His studies on Medieval literature have focused on the Cent nouvelles nouvelles, the Roman de Renart, Jean Bodel, Charles d'Orléans, Jean Froissart, Le roman de Jehan de Paris and Christine de Pisan. He has also researched authors from different periods and genres in the field of Spanish-French comparative studies: Voltaire (La Henriade), Théophile Gautier, Jorge Semprún and Louise Doutreligne. His first translations have focused on French-language poetry from the 17th, 19th, 20th and 19th centuries: Salah Stétié, Alfred de Musset, Anise Koltz, Jean-Michel Maulpoix, Théophile Gautier and Théophile de Viau. In connection with his teaching and research on Medieval French literature, she has translated two works by Christine de Pisan (Cien Baladas de Amante y Dama, Palma: La lucerna 2011), and El libro del duque de los verdaderos amantes, Universidad de Murcia, 2014). A few years ago he opened a new line of research on contemporary French theatre with studies, prologues and translations of Louise Doutreligne (Tocada y lanzada, Universitat de València, 2008, and Teresada', Universitat de València, 2017; etc. ), and by the Romanian-French author Matei Visniec (La palabra progreso en boca de mi madre sonaba tremendamente falsa, Universitat de València, 2013; Migraaaantes..., Universitat de València, Academia de los nocturnos, 2017, etc.). Finally, he has translated for the first time into Spanish three works by the Quebec writer Serge Lamothe: Oshima, (Verbum 2022), Tras el final (Verbum, 2023) and Mi tierra es un fondo de océano (La Lucerna, 2023).These translations, almost always preceded by introductory studies, have been accompanied by two short essays in which he has reflected on his own work: "Entusiasmos y angustias de un traductor vocacional", Eu-topias, V, 2013; "La traducción poética desde la experiencia de un traductor", in Martínez-Paricio, Violeta; Pruñonosa-Tomás, Manuel eds, Intercomprensión románica, Linx, 2017. Most of this research and translations have been carried out within the framework of research projects in which he has participated over the years: La problemática de la seducción en la literatura francesa (PS91-0139), Dirección General de Investigación Científica y Técnica del MEC; Espacios extranjeros y exóticos del amor en la literatura francesa (BFF2002-02260, I+D project, Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación Tecnológica; Mujeres escritoras en la literatura contemporánea francesa: claves de su emergencia y diersidad 1970-2005), (HUM2006-08785/FILO), Dirección General de Investigación, Subdirección General de Proyectos de Investigación. He is currently part of the international research projects REMELICE, Réception et Médiations de Littératures et de Cultures Étrangères Comparées, Université d'Orléans, France (EA-4709) and EMOTHE, European Theatre of the 16th and 17th centuries: heritage and databases,Ministerio de Economía y Comptetitivad (FFI2016-80314-P). Within the framework of the former, he researches on Jorge Semprún and Matei Visniec; within the framework of the second one, he studies, edits and translates classical French plays. Likewise, in the field of knowledge transfer, he has been advising the performance company Influenscènes Association since February 2017, through an agreement between this company and the Universitat de València. He has held several positions of academic responsibility in the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication of the University of Valencia: Secretary and Vice-Dean of the Faculty, Secretary and Director of the Department of French and Italian Philology of the same centre. During his time as Vice-Dean, he was in charge of the academic organization of the Faculty, as well as external internships, and he also participated in the commissions for the reform of the syllabus and self-evaluation of the centre. He has also been Coordinator of the Degree in Modern Languages and their Literatures and Co-Director of the Master's Degree in Research in Languages and Literatures at the University of Valencia. Since 1990, without interruption until today, he has been an elected representative of the teaching staff on the Board of the Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació (Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication). In 2011, he was appointed Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques, by the French. From the 2021-2023 academic year, he is the local coordinator of the Dual Degree Plan for the Master's Degree in Translation between the University of Valencia and the University of Burgundy. |

Mabel Richart-Marset is a professor at the University of Valencia where she teaches Conference Interpreting in the Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation degree (TMI). She participates in several university master's degrees at the UV (Master's Degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation, Master's Degree in Creative Writing, etc...), where she teaches Audiovisual Translation, Literature and Cinema, and Literary Translation, among others. She has been coordinator of the Degree in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation (TMI) and coordinates since 2008 the area of Translation and Interpreting of the Department of Teoria dels Llenguatges i Ciències de la Comunicació. She is also a visiting professor at several American universities where she teaches seminars on film and translation. In 2017 she was named Distinguished Visiting Professor by the University of Virginia. She holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication and is the author of seven books and numerous articles on film studies, audiovisual translation, conference interpreting and discourse analysis. She has given several lectures as guest speaker at national and foreign universities, among them: "Intersemiotic Translation and Intertextuality: From Texts to Films" (Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand), "Translating Silence: From Philomela and Penelope to the Present" (University of Virginia), "La Angustia ante la traducción de las UFS" (University of Veracruz, Mexico), "Manipulación y reescritura en la traducción para el doblaje" (Universitat Jaume I), "Teoría de la traducción y práctica del doblaje" (Universitat de Vic) and "De pantuflas y pianos: la Tristana de Luis Buñuel. Claves de una traducción intersemiótica" (University of Virginia), etc.... José Santaemilia is Professor of English at the Universitat de València and a certified translator of English. His research interests focus on issues of gender, sexuality, discourse, and translation. He has edited books such as Género, lenguaje y traducción (Valencia, 2003), Gender, Sex and Translation: The Manipulation of Identities (Manchester, 2005), Gender and Sexual Identities in Transition: International Perspectives (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2008), with Patricia Bou, Woman and Translation: Geographies, Voices and Identities (MONTI – Monographs on Translation and Interpretation, 2011), with Luise von Flotow, and New Perspectives on Gender and Translation: New Voices for Transnational Dialogues (Routledge, 2022), with Eleonora Federici. In 2017, he co-edited, with Sergio Maruenda, a special issue of the journal RESLA (Revista Española de Lingüística Aplicada) on Specialised Translation in Spain: Institutional Dimensions. He is also the author, along with José Pruñonosa, of the first critical edition in Spanish of Fanny Hill (Editorial Cátedra, 2000). Miguel Teruel lectures in English Literature and Literary Translation since 1987, mainly at the University of València, where he participates in the Master in Advanced English Studies and in the Master in Creative and Humanistic Translation; he has also collaborated with the Jaume I University of Castelló (Master in Translation and Interpreting Research) and with the Fundació ADEIT Universitat-Empresa (Master in Comparative Literature and Cultural Criticism). He is the External Internships coordinator for the Degree in English Studies.
