
The sentence rejects the appeal filed by National Association of Clinical and Resident Psychologists (ANPIR) and emphasises that Psychologists Specialists in Clinical Psychology are not the only ones who are professionally qualified to perform diagnoses, assessments and psychological treatments.
The National Audience has dismissed the appeal filed by the National Association of Clinical and Resident Psychologists (ANPIR) against Order ECD / 1070/2013, dated June 12, establishing the requirements for the verification of official university degrees Master's Degree in General Sanitary Psychology, which qualifies for the practice of the profession titled and regulated General Sanitary Psychologist.
The sentence emphasizes that Psychologists Specialists in Clinical Psychology are not the only ones who are professionally qualified to perform diagnoses, evaluations and treatments of the health of people affected by disorders whose examination corresponds to the psychologist.
In this sense, he adds, among the professional abilities of the General Sanitary Psychologist is that of "attending pathologies that affect the health of people from a psychological level", being “erroneous to understand that correspond exclusively to Psychologist specializing in Psychology Clinic".
The General Sanitary Psychologist can diagnose, evaluate and intervene in the private sphere.''
In the light of the above, the National Audience establish that difference between both professions affects the professional scope of action: While Psychologists Specialists in Clinical Psychology can work in both public and private spheres, the General Sanitary Psychologist can only develop their professional labour in the private sphere.
The sentences is still pending resolution, being subject to cassation appeal ,which may be filed ANPIR within 30 days from the date of notification.
