On March 31st, 2025, the research group MATS (Material Technology and Sustainability) successfully organized the seminar titled “Innovative Approaches in Greener Membrane Design for Environmental Applications” at the School of Engineering of the University of Valencia.
The event, part of the CARBONBRANE and METHBRANE projects, brought together researchers in the field of sustainable polymeric membranes to present their latest advances in membrane preparation and application techniques for environmental protection and decarbonization.

Seminar Program

  • Session I: Advances in PVDF and PVDF-HFP flat-sheet and hollow-fibre membrane preparation techniques:

    • Félix Montero – “Transitioning to green solvents in electrospun PVDF membrane production: Safer manufacturing with DMSO”
  • Session II: Greening decarbonization technologies with novel membrane materials:
    • Gorka Marco – “Evaluation of dialkylimidazolium chain length on the properties and CO₂/CH₄ and CO₂/N₂ separation performance of [NTf₂]-based supported ionic liquid membranes”

The event opened and closed with remarks from Professor José Badia, and stood out for the high scientific level of the presentations and the strong commitment to the development of sustainable solutions for today’s environmental challenges.
