- Design and validation of polymeric and composite materials for membranes technology. Technology for the design of functionalised polymers and composites for the development of membranes in flat or fibre format. Parameters control such as the pore size, wettability, chemical affinity, thermic stability, chemicals and mechanics.
- Development of (bio)plastics with advanced proprieties and multiple applications. Development of new polymeric materials and composites with advanced properties: actives, intelligent, biodegradable, recyclable, edible, nanocomposites and biocomposites, for their application in biomedicine, conservation systems of food and pharmaceutic products, or membranes, among others.
- Design and application of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents as reaction sources and catalysers. Synthesis of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents on demand as reaction sources and/or catalysers. Study of the viability of the reaction process. Study of the viability of the solvent recovery process.
- Evaluation of the stability of plastic devices in front of severe agents of degradation. Application of ultraviolet radiation, corona, plasma, and “hidro-quimo-sono-térmico” ageing techniques.
- Valorisation of plastic wastes through mechanical, chemical, thermic and biological processes. Development of methodologies and physic-chemical analysis of plastic waste to stablish more adequate valorisation strategies.
- Development of lignocellulosic biorefinery processes of farm and forest waste. Microfragmentation of agro waste. Obtaining of celluloses, hemicelluloses and lignin. Chemical transformation and incorporation in polymeric matrixes. Validation of applications in simulated service conditions.
- Modelling and simulation of transport equipment in polymeric membranes. Development of mathematic models, based on the method of finite elements (FEM), for the study of transport of multicomponent matter, adapted or not to the transport of calorific energy, through multilayer polymeric structures.
