MATS

The Research Group in Materials technology and sustainability (MATS) develops its work in the Laboratories 4.3.20 y 4.3.21 of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the School of Engineering (ETSE) of the Universitat de València. Based on the capacity, they structure their resources in laboratories and equipment (see next).

Resources for the production of polymeric base devises

MATS has different technologies in laboratory scale for the development of materials of different typologies: Automatic film applicator standard heated vacuum, lab hollow fibre membrane casting machine, yarn extrusion machine, spinbox electrospinner, mini hot press machine, or mini spray dryer among other. Superficial functionalisation of membranes processes.

Resources for membrane operations

Versatile bedframe for the implementation of technologies of membrane in gas-liquid and gas-gas transference processes. It is doted with flow controllers, precision bombs and gas chromatograph. Furthermore, it has the ability of conforming flat membrane modules and hollow fibre membrane contactors.

Resources for the valuation of waste
  • Advanced oxidation unit through UV-C chamber, corona treatment or atmospheric plasma.
  • Application of “hidro-quimo-sono-térmico” ageing tests.
  • Specialisation in chemical recycling and recovery of fibres parting from textile waste.
  • Homogeniser of the extraction of lignocellulose parts from farm and forest waste.
  • Lignocellulosic biorefinery procedures.
Resources for the preparation and application of neoteric solvents

Design and synthesis of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, used transversally in all working lines. Analytical quality control techniques of the solvents. Extractor with supercritical CO2.

Analytical resources

Differential scanning calorimeter, chromatograph of gases, porometer, goniometer, colorimeter, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, analytical balances.

Scanning Electron Microscopy characterization, spectrophotometry FTIR or X-ray diffraction, among others, is also done in the Central Services of Research.

Finally, the collaboration with the Institute of Materials Science to complement the analytical abilities should not be overlooked.
