The Research Group on Educational Policies, Interculturality and Society (POLISOC) of the University of Valencia, within the framework of the Inter-University Seminar, is pleased to invite you to the lecture entitled:
“Is There a European Culture? What Are the Values of ‘Europe’?”, delivered by Javier Manuel Valle López, from the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Date: Thursday, 4 June 2026
Time: 12:00 pm
Venue: Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences, University of Valencia
Room: ECHE Seminar Room, 3rd floor
Address: Avenida Blasco Ibáñez, 30, 46010 Valencia, Spain

If cultural identity is already a construct of complex validation in the case of nations with a long-standing historical tradition, it seems even more difficult to define in supranational realities such as the European Union, whose political materialisation has a history of only a few decades. We will explore whether a European culture does or does not exist or, at least, whether it is possible to define certain values that may constitute minimal axiological roots on which to build a shared and peaceful coexistence.
