Biography

With a degree in History (1999), I received my PhD with European mention in Archaeology (2013) from the Universitat de València with a doctoral thesis about the traditions of Mediterranean shipbuilding, between the 3rd century BC and 2nd century AD.

With an interest in everything related to nautical archaeology and underwater techniques, I was trained at the Centre d'Arqueologia Subaquàtica de Catalunya, an institution with which I maintain a close relationship, participating as a researcher in several projects. I carried out numerous predoctoral and postdoctoral stays at the Départment des Recherches Archéologiques Subaquatiques et Sous-Marines (Drassm).

Between 2006 and 2019, in the framework of several contracts with the Direcció General de Patrimoni Cultural de la GVA, I conducted the excavation campaigns and the research in the Roman wreck of Bou Ferrer (La Vila Joiosa, Alacant).

I was a researcher associate at the Centre Camile Jullian between 2013-2017 at the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l'homme d'Aix-en-provence of the CNRS, continuing my research on the study of maritime cultural transfers through the study of how boats and ships are built, where I conducted in situ studies on several naval architectures.

Since 2019 I am a researcher associate at the Institute of Nautical Archaeology of the TexasA&M University, being granted annually by the institution to develop my research on the naval architecture of the wreck of El Sec (Mallorca) from 2020 to the present. Since the same date I run the study of the naval architecture of the Greek wreck of Mazotos (Cyprus).

On the teaching side, I have participated in several courses related to underwater archaeological heritage, teaching the topic of ancient Mediterranean naval architecture in the official master's degree of the University of Cadiz from 2016 to the present. I would highlight the stay as visiting chair for a semester at the Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany) with another four-month period as an external in 2018.

Currently I am hired as a researcher by the UV within the project of Extraction of the Phoenician wreck Mazarrón 2, with a management objective, with the recovery to surface of the wreck located in an unstable environment and research one, with the aim of learning more about a tradition of shipbuilding brought from the Levant and that will have continuity in the Mediterranean facade of the Iberian Peninsula.

Biography

Researcher in the project SENSING IBERIANSCAPES, leaded by Carmen Cuenca. She graduated in History and Heritage in the UJI in 2022 and did her master in archaeology in the UV in 2023.
She has participated in multiple field work in the last years, in the archaeological sites in Borriana of Villa Romana de Sant Gregori, Molì de l’Arròs and Torrucles. She also participated in the activities in the Archaeological museum of the municipality. Moreover, she participated in the 76th archaeological course in Empúries.
Her area is the study, conservation, and diffusion of rural heritage. She promotes the analysis of the agriculture and animal husbandry medium as a way to understand the transformations of the landscape and its historical, cultural, social and economic implications.
The approximation from archaeological methods to this field is one of her academic interest. Specifically, her master’s thesis was centred in the study of the cultural heritage related to husbandry movements in Ares del Maestrat. In this work, one of the key points was the photogrammetric analysis of dry-stone huts in this municipality.
