The Universitat de València (UV) invests in the continuing education and training of its teaching staff as is seen through its participation in the international workshop “Igniting Entrepreneurial Mindsets: Strategies and Practical Insights”, which was held from 24 to 28 of June 2024 at the prestigious Real Colegio Complutense of Harvard University (RCCH).
This initiative, with the primary goal of promoting teaching innovation in entrepreneurship among the teaching staff of the UV, was organized by the Vice-Principal of Innovation and Transfer and the Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Educational Transformation and Employment through UVemprén, and is sponsored by Banco Santander.
The workshop, which took place at the heart of global academic innovation, aimed to offer specialization in entrepreneurship for the university teaching staff involved in the activities of the Network for Pre-Incubators of the Universitat de València. These activities aim to train the workshop attendees, who teach in any area of knowledge taught at the UV, in the generation and validation of entrepreneurial projects, thus contributing to the creation of a university entrepreneurial ecosystem that acts as a catalyst for social progress through innovation and the creation of shared values.
On behalf of the Universitat de València, Head of the Board of Trustees Ángela Pérez Pérez, Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Educational Transformation and Employment Ángeles Solanes Corella and UV Delegate for the RCCH Pedro Morillo Tena attended the opening ceremony. On behalf of Harvard University, International Student and Scholar Advisor at Harvard University Peter O’Meara and Director of the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard Daniel Sánchez, who stated that ‘the RCCH is a meeting point that creates opportunities for Spanish talent in the United States’ also attended.
This year, nine Pre-Incubators of Entrepreneurship from different UV centers participated in the program. The participating teaching and research representatives were Arturo López Castel of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Santiago González de la Hoz of the Faculty of Physics, Alicia Monleón Ventura of the Faculty of Chemistry, Sara Isabel Cortés Amador of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, Javier Pereda Cervera of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Ángel Robles Martínez of the ETSE, Emilio Iranzo García of the Faculty of Geography and History, Gloria Segarra Irles of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Rafael Marimón Durá of the Faculty of Law.
The course was coordinated by teaching staff from the Faculty of Economics, including Lola Garzón Benítez and Pau Sendra Pons, who are both members of UVemprén. Participants had the opportunity to attend practical sessions taught by experts in health sciences and entrepreneurship along with on-site visits to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Boston area. The visit to Harvard University, the Plasma Science and Fusion Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, world-renowned reference centers in research and innovation, was particularly remarkable.
The initiative enforces the commitment of the Universitat de València to continuing education, training and evolution of the teaching staff, promoting international cooperation and direct contact with top-level academic and entrepreneurial environments. Collaborations with institutions such as Harvard University not only enriches the training experience of students and teaching staff, but also opens up new avenues for future cooperation and development.
Strategic Agreement with Harvard
The Universitat de València has signed a partnership agreement with the Real Colegio Complutense of Harvard University, allowing students and teaching staff from both institutions to work conjointly. This agreement facilitates the exchange of students and academics, enriching educational experiences and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural and academic perspectives. Through scholarship and residence programs, the RCCH provides unique opportunities for immersion in different academic environments, contributing to the strengthening of educational and cultural ties between Spain and the United States.
The RCCH is an academic institution created through the collaboration between the Complutense University of Madrid and Harvard University, with the subsequent participation of other Spanish universities, including the Universitat de València. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the RCCH promotes academic and cultural excellence through innovative programs, conferences and cultural activities. Its ability to facilitate the exchange of students and professionals, together with a wide range of academic programs and events, creates an environment that benefits both the academic community and the general audience.
