INNOCAST 2025 Congress. Innovative perspectives in Podcasting –held on 11st and 12nd December at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication– concluded with a wide professional and academic exchange about podcast transformations in a media environment characterised by hyperconnectivity and artificial intelligence. This initiative was developed in the framework of a research programme of the UV Office of the Vice-rector for Research, Special Actions call, UV-INV-AE-3648539 file.
Organised by the INNOCAST research group, the congress constituted an analysis and interdisciplinary dialogue forum that grouped together researchers, professors, content creators and podcasting experts to discuss about the present and the future of this format in communicative, educative, cultural and technological areas.
The opening of the event was carried out by the congress’ co-directors, such as professor Carlos López-Olano, who highlighted the importance of the meeting to promote critical reflection on challenges and opportunities that the development of podcast as means of communication poses.
The scientific programme included conferences, communication discussions and participative activities distributed in three main thematic areas:
- Podcast, higher education and training processes, with lectures about methodologies based on podcasts as a pedagogic resource and its contribution to active learning.
- Artificial intelligence and future challenges, in which we discussed how AI is transforming production practices as well as the distribution of audio content.
- History and evolution of podcasting and radio, addressing the path of audible stories and its cultural impact.
Among the interventions, the presentations of international universities’ research projects, analysis about audience strategies in contemporary media, as well as a special conference about creativity in the era of artificial intelligence’s generative tools were highlighted.
Moreover, the congress included a meeting session among podcasters of the #EspaiPodcastUV ecosystem and the live recording of podcasts episodes as part of the practical activities aimed to students and participants.
Organisers underline that INNOCAST25 has reaffirmed the relevance of podcasts as an object of study and as a communication tool in the 21st Century, as well as the necessity to strengthen academic and professional collaborations to keep exploring its multiple dimensions.
The congress concluded with the commitment to continuing to boost research and knowledge dissemination about podcasting and its intersection with technological and educative innovation. The congress consolidated itself as a reference event in the university and scientific area.
