The second edition of the INNOCAST conference –which will take place on 14 and 15 December 2026– opens the call for papers under the slogan “From dial to algorithm, from waves to streaming”. The meeting invites the academic and professional community to reflect upon the transformations of sound communication in an ecosystem marked by digital platforms, podcasting, new consumption habits and artificial intelligence.
The appearance of digital platforms deeply transformed the production, distribution, and consumption of sound contents. Nowadays, traditional radio coexists with on-demand broadcasts, live streaming, musical platforms, podcasts, voice assistants, and new systems of distribution and algorithmic recommendations.
In this context, INNOCAST 2026. Nuevos discursos de audio (New audio speeches) raises a reflection in its second edition upon the evolution of the ways to transmit audio contents and, particularly, coexistence, tensions, and opportunities that appear in terms of conventional broadcasting and new ways of circulating sound contents.
Under the slogan “From dial to algorithm, from waves to streaming”, the conference will pay special attention to how these transformations are modifying production routines, the relation with the audience and distribution strategies. The call addresses researchers, teachers, professionals and students of Communication and Journalism, that may present original works from theoretical, methodological and applied perspectives.
The Call for Papers is structured in four big thematic lines. The first one, –Radio and streaming platforms– will address the transformation of broadcast models, hybrid radio, and multiplatform distribution, as well as live streaming and online radio. The second one –Podcasting and new sound formats– will be focused on emerging narratives, sound fiction, branded podcast, videopodcast, and the innovation in formats.
The third one –Audience and consumption habits– will analyse new listener profiles, on-demand consumption, algorithmic personalisation and systems of platform recommendations. Finally, Artificial intelligence and automation will address issues such as the application of AI to sound production, synthetic voice-over, generative tools and process automation.
Submission of proposals
People interested in participating can submit their proposals until 20 November 2026 to CongresoInnocast@gmail.com. Every proposal must include the title of the presentation, the names and institutional affiliations of the authors, an abstract of 300-500 words, four to six keywords, and an indication of the thematic line to which it belongs. The papers can be written in Spanish, Valencian, or English.
Accepted papers will be presented during the conference and can be considered for publication in the conference proceedings or in collaborating scientific publications, according to the publishing rules and the review processes established by the scientific committee.
The INNOCAST 2026 conference will take place on 14 and 15 December. The organizing committee consists of Maria Josep Picó –from the Universitat de València–, Nadia Alonso –from the Universitat Politècnica de València– and Carlos López Olano –from the Universitat de València.
INNOCAST 2026 starts from a reality that summarises the premise of the event: waves don’t solely travel through the air anymore, but also through platforms, algorithms and networks. Understanding this evolution and its consequences for the future of sound communication constitutes the main challenge of this second edition.
