Study of the relationship between air pollution and health effects, with multi-centre studies being carried out. Studies are also carried out to evaluate the impact of pollution on the health of populations.

Assessment of the nutritional and functional quality of food and diets

Assessment of: a) Nutritional and functional quality of formulations, food, ingredients, diets and/or menus and b) Food information: mandatory and nutritional labelling, nutrition and health claims.

Childhood and environment line

Describe the level of exposure and pollution during gestation and early childhood, assess the role of common environmental pollutants and protective dietary factors on foetal growth and neuro-endocrine-immune development to develop health indicators.

Health Education

Research in Health Education, Gender and Ecodidactic Gardens, through studies, projects and development of materials in the different areas of Health (attention to inequalities, emotions, conflict resolution, violence, addictions, environment, food...) applied to the integral training of students and teachers.

Learning difficulties and designing and evaluating teaching sequences of Sciences

Analysis of students' and teachers' conceptions and of school textbooks and educational resources; design and evaluation of science teaching sequences or units that promote students' conceptual, procedural and axiological learning.

Malaria, climate change and Culicidae of public health concern

Molecular characterisation of Culicidae of vectorial interest for infectious diseases currently present in areas that in the past were endemic for Malaria in Spain.

Pest control

Pest examination, detection and control. Natural enemies, biorational insecticides and pheromones included. Compatibility of insecticides with useful fauna. Especially in urban and agricultural environments. Primarily urban pests (cockroaches) and vectors (mosquitoes).

Psychosocial factors and risks at work

Prevention of psychosocial risks at work and work-related stress, prevention of accidents at work, improving the safety culture and climate in companies, improving the occupational health of workers, increasing the productivity of organisations and companies in the public and private sectors.

These areas are currently characterised by a rapid fluctuation and modification of their characteristics where interdependent factors play an important role that requires an integral study. Viral environmental epidemiology

Monitoring natural and anthropogenic environments for disease surveillance, specially viral outbreaks. Detection of emerging viruses in natural environments and development of quantification techniques for population monitoring. Study of new transmission routes of emerging viruses.
