Description

Research and development of a smart platform and new materials for the optimisation of urban mobility through energy management and 5G applications

This project promotes the design and development of a battery recharging and replacement station for light mobility. Specifically, it is a system that enables the rapid exchange of depleted batteries for ones charged with solar energy and predicts energy consumption thanks to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, as well as the creation of an innovative intelligent energy management platform that eliminates the risks of electromagnetic interference and improves safety.

Sustainable mobility is a strategic priority at local, national, European and global levels. Thus, it is essential to promote new technological solutions that ensure safe, connected and smart mobility, applied to both individual and delivery vehicles, which will reduce CO2 emissions. The project proposes an innovative sustainable structural battery housing for lightweight vehicles based on a reusable and recyclable long-fibre thermoplastic composite with dual functionalities: flame-retardant additives and electromagnetic shielding (EMI) particles. This new solution increases the vehicle’s driving range by reducing its weight compared to conventional metal housings, thus reducing costs and energy expenditure, as well as the carbon footprint.
