The Ministry of Culture has launched SPACES using Econcult. For Culture, Creativity and Innovation, an initiative aimed at strengthening cultural spaces from the state with knowledge and innovation tools that allow more fair and effective decisions.
The project, led by Pau Rausell and developed by the Universitat de València through Econcult 'Econcult (Unit for Research in Culture and Tourism Economy of the Universtiat de València) focuses on generating knowledge about infrastructures, spaces and equipment aimed at culture, creativity and innovation.
This line of work will allow to create a stable academic space geared towards implementing policies that guarantee the right to culture, consolidate creative ecosystems and promote innovation. SPACES will act as a search engine for education and knowledge transfer.
On the one hand, it will improve and expand the big database of cultural equipment data, which will be useful for orienting future inversions in a transparent and equitable way. On the other hand, it will focus on the training of professionals and students, with practical workshops and awards that will promote open innovation and the connection between technology and culture. Moreover, it will play a key role in scientific production, supporting research and publications in open access that will put Spain on the international map of cultural management.
Furthermore, it will be a meeting point for sharing experiences and good practises, with an active website, presence on social media and important events such as an annual meeting in València and an international meeting about cultural infrastructures. With all of this, SPACES establishes itself as a bridge between data, technology and cultural community, capable of transforming challenges of the sector into opportunities and moving towards a more accessible, innovative and rooted culture.
