Scientific knowledge on cultural facilities, territory, indicators and public policies.
Research is at the core of the ESPACIOS Chair. Its work focuses on the study of cultural facilities, creative infrastructures and spaces devoted to culture, creativity and innovation, with particular attention to their territorial distribution, social role and contribution to cultural public policies.
The Chair develops applied research aimed at generating evidence, indicators and analytical tools to better understand the role of cultural facilities in access to culture, territorial cohesion, social innovation and the development of creative ecosystems.

Applied research linked to PITEC
A key part of the Chair's research activity is linked to the Territorial Plan for Cultural Facilities (PITEC).
This work includes improving the PITEC database, validating records, analysing the territorial distribution of cultural facilities, developing indicators and exploring new data-based methodologies.
Scientific production and knowledge transfer
The Chair promotes the publication of research results and open scientific resources related to cultural facilities and territory.
One of its key outputs is the publication of the first international scientific article on cultural facilities and territory promoted by the Chair.

The ESPACIOS Chair also incorporates the research perspective developed within SPACES – Spatial Analytics and Cultural Economics Research Centre, a research space linked to spatial analysis, cultural economics, territorial data and cultural policies.
SPACES helps strengthen the Chair's analytical capacity in areas such as cultural mapping, spatial analysis of cultural facilities, geographic information systems, territorial indicators and the assessment of the social and territorial impacts of culture.
