Sport Management and Innovation Research Group was born in the Department of Physical Education and Sport of the UV from several studies on perceived quality and user satisfaction of sports services carried out in the Research Unit of Economic and Consumer Psychology (UIPEC) directed by Professor Ismael Quintanilla.
This line of research continues to yield good results in terms of scientific production in the group and new lines of research have been incorporated as we have grown with new doctoral students. The group is currently developing research work in the field of sport management and marketing using neuromarketing technologies such as eye tracking or EEG. It is of interest to know the brand perception of sport users and consumers as well as the perception of sport sponsorship and its effects on the intentions of customers-users.
The impact of sport is also an important line of research. In this line of research different doctoral theses have been defended on the social impact of sports events, sports tourism and sports facilities. Alongside this line of research there have been some studies on the economic impact of sporting events, which has been achieved with the collaboration of sports economics researchers.
Another key line of research is the study of the entrepreneurial intentions of sport science students. This line has evolved to analyse the entrepreneurial orientation of sports organisations such as sports clubs and companies in the sports sector. This has also led to the analysis of intra-entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial lifestyles in the field of sport.
Recently we have also launched another line of research related to the use of social media to improve the digital and other skills of sport science and sport management students. The last line of research that we are working on has to do with the dual career of the student-athlete, which tries to know the main barriers that the student and athlete has to be able to combine the two careers, academic and professional-sports.
