Magnetic cell separator
Magnetic cell separator
Brand: MACSxpress® Separator
Type: Equipment

The MACSxpress separator is a system designed for the manual separation of magnetic-labelled cells utilising the MACS® technology.

Description

The separator has been developed for the rapid isolation of leukocytes in whole blood samples up to 30ml, without the need for centrifuging on a density gradient.

The erythrocytes are added and deposited, while the target cells are isolated by the immunomagnetic separation through Beads MACSxpress. The test tube holding the labelled sample is placed in the magnetic field of the MACSxpress separator.

The labelled cells with magnetic antibodies will be added to the test tube’s wall, while the rest of them will remain suspended.

While the test tube remains within the MACSxpress separator, the floating tube containing the unlabelled target cells may be transferred to a different test tube.

Practical implementation

Depending on the preferential cellular type to isolate, different kits with specific MACSxpress Beads will be used. Different kits with specific MACSxpress beads will be required for this purpose. These are available separately.

The main kits are:

  • Leukocyte Layer Cell Isolation Kits: Pan B Cell, Pan T Cell, CD4T Cell,
  • LRSC Pan T Cell Isolation Kits,
  • Whole Blood Pan B Cell Isolation Kits: cell leukocytes isolation kit, B- and T-cell lymphocytes isolation kit, naïve and memory B- and T-cell lymphocytes isolation kit, Treg cells, eosinophils, erythrocytes, monocytes and natural killer cells (NK).
