
The event took place on 5 July at the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València
On 5 July 2024, the fifth and last conference of the cycle 'Economía y emprendimiento al servicio de las personas' ('Economy and Entrepreneurship at People's Service) took place at the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València. It was organised by Aula Empresocial and funded by Caixa Popular, in collaboration with the General Consulate of Colombia in València, the Colombian Chancery, the Polibienestar Programme of the UV and other organizations committed with social economy.
The conference, celebrated at the 2P04 classroom of the Tarongers Campus and streamed, focused on the entrepreneurship profiles and the opportunities social economy offers, specially in the field of cooperatives and co-ops.
The event was inaugurated by Gillian Maghmud, consul of Colombia in València, and by Francisco Alós, director of RSC and Relaciones Institucionales of Caixa Popular.
The technical session started with the lecture of Andrea Rey, professor of the Departament of Business Management of the UV, who analysed different entrepreneurship profiles. Then, Antonia Sajardo, full professor of the UVEG, taught the lecture Emprender en Economía Social: cooperativas y sociedades laborales ('How or be a Social Economy Entrepreneur- cooperatives and co-ops'), where she highlighted the collective and transformative value of this business model.
The event ended with a panel discussion moderated by Professor Sajardo where Pilar Guillén, technician in co-ops, and Isabel Cabo, representative of Mundo Mara Sdad. Cooperativa Valenciana, participated sharing their professional experiences in the field of social entrepreneurship.
With this fifth conference, Aula Empresocial closes a cycle of activities which has been taught in several places along the Valencian territory, combining academic reflexion and good practices exchange, thus consolidating its commitment with a more fair, inclusive and sustainable economic model.
