“Viseon” an AI-based software that detects threats to people's safety, wins the Smart Mobility Challenge competition for students of the Universitat de València, sponsored by Ford Philanthropy

The Smart Mobility Challenge contest aims to select the best ideas contributed by teams composed of students from the University of Valencia in the field of intelligent and sustainable mobility from among the ten finalists in the previous evaluation and have won a prize of €500 per team. These ten projects have been selected from among 41 students from the University of Valencia who, distributed in 25 teams, have participated in this program representing the faculties of Economics, Mathematical Sciences, Law, Medicine and Dentistry, Psychology and Speech Therapy, Physics, Geography and History, Biology, Physiotherapy, Doctoral School and the ETSE-UV.

The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Transfer Rosa Donat, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Francisco Muñoz Murgui and Eva Mocholí, head of Communication of Ford Motor Company Spain. The Evaluation Commission was formed by Lola Garzón Benítez, professor of the Faculty of Economics and academic head of the Entrepreneurship Unit of the University of Valencia (UVemprén), the managers of Ford Spain, Eduardo García Magraner and Joaquín Muelas and Lorena Giraldós, entrepreneurship technician.

The first prize went to the project “VISEON”, presented by Linda Krasimirova Chobanova Revenko, student of the Faculty of Psychology. The project develops AI-based software that detects threats to people's safety by analyzing movement patterns, kinesics and proxemics in video streams from existing cameras. This project will receive a grant of €12,500 to develop its business idea into a real business project.

In addition, the competition has recognized two other finalist teams that will receive a grant of €5,000 each. Miriam Caballero Cerveró, student of the Faculty of Biology, Feras El Hissi, student of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Alberto España Corts, student of the Faculty of Economics have presented the project “VIATEGI-AI”, a startup that is revolutionizing emergency care by reducing pre-hospital mortality from heart attacks and strokes through the intelligent optimization of each step of the emergency response chain. And Teo Balsalobre Vidal, from the School of Economics, presented the “TEXY” project, a responsible mobility startup that offers an innovative solution to improve road safety, reduce transportation costs for users and minimize environmental impact.
