2022 is on track to be the year of migration to Europe. The war in Ukraine has provoked one of the largest humanitarian crises in recent history, with the displacement of 10 million people. This migration comes on top of populations fleeing conflict or persecution across the Global South, not to mention the growing pressure caused by the climate crisis. The treatment of migrants in transit is very unequal and examples of solidarity contrast with clear human rights violations and allegations of institutional racism. It therefore seems necessary to review the migration phenomenon both from a humanitarian perspective and from the perspective of its political and social effects in the host countries, where many migrants are condemned to survive without rights.
Organised by the Aula Didáctica de la Diáspora Mediterránea of the General Directorate for Educational Innovation, the seminar "Migrating in the Mediterranean, today" is especially aimed at teachers and professors acquiring an updated vision of this phenomenon so present in the classroom, from the hand of members of NGOs, lawyers or journalists who know it first hand.
This 13.5-hour seminar is recognised by CEFIRE Gandia. Those teachers who wish to attend should register by clicking here.
