Implementation of Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) at the UV

  • May 12th, 2026

The objective is to achieve data interoperability between the mobility IT systems of all universities participating in the Erasmus programme, both Spanish and European, eliminating the exchange of documentation in order to reduce bureaucracy.

1.- Access to the EWP Dashboard application of the University of Valencia

The University has implemented a specific IT application for managing the Learning Agreements of incoming and outgoing students participating in the Erasmus studies programme.

Access to the application is provided through the University of Valencia username and password.

In this way, degree mobility coordinators and Erasmus students can use this application to manage the Online Learning Agreements (OLAs) for Erasmus study periods.

2.- What is Erasmus Without Paper (EWP)?

The European Student Card Initiative is one of the commitments undertaken by higher education institutions that have been awarded the Erasmus Charter within the Erasmus+ 2021–27 programme. Among other obligations, it entails the need to connect to the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Network for the secure exchange of data between IT systems managing Erasmus mobility.

Several connection methods to the network have been established. For institutions that do not have their own IT system, the Erasmus EWP Dashboard platform has been created. Institutions with their own systems or systems provided by commercial vendors must establish a connection between their IT systems and the EWP network.

Connecting to the EWP network involves an adaptation process that operates on the basis of reciprocity. In other words, all institutions need to be connected to the network in order to achieve full interoperability.

3.- Learning Agreements for Studies (OLAs)

The University of Valencia has its own in-house IT system to manage its Erasmus study mobilities. The International Relations Service uses a specific IT tool, University of Valencia EWP, which connects the in-house software to the EWP network and enables the digital management of OLAs for both incoming and outgoing students.

4.- Interinstitutional Agreements (IIA)

Interinstitutional agreements are agreements signed between two universities that establish the conditions for the exchange of Erasmus study students.

The University of Valencia has software for managing interinstitutional agreements within the Erasmus programme. Subscription of Erasmus interinstitutional agreements through the Erasmus Without Paper network is carried out centrally by the Agreements Unit of the International Relations and Cooperation Service (erasmus.agreements@uv.es).

5.- Information of interest

Interinstitutional agreements are agreements signed between two universities that establish the conditions for the exchange of Erasmus study students.

6.- European Student Card Iniciative

The European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) of the European Commission encompasses three actions:

  • The interoperability of mobility management IT systems through the Erasmus Without Paper Network (EWP), as described in the previous sections.
  • The Erasmus+ App (E+ App): a single entry point designed to help students find all the information they need about the opportunities offered by Erasmus+, and in particular the tools specifically developed to facilitate exchange programmes.
  • A common European visual student identity through the European Student Card (ESC) project, which higher education institutions add to their existing student cards by means of a hologram, a QR code and a unique identifier. In the case of the University of Valencia, students and staff already have a European Student Card available in the University of Valencia mobile application. This specific card should not be confused with the overall European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) of the European Commission, even though the terms coincide.
