
Democracy week is an annual event where academics and students from FORTHEM universities set the focus on democracy in Europe and the world.
Students and academics are encouraged to propose activities and ideas to bring Democracy Week to all FORTHEM Alliance campuses.
Democracy Week is organized in connection with European Conference on Democracy and Human Rights in Kristiansand which will take place on Monday 5th of May 2025.
Open call to Students and Academics:
Students can sign up for:
- Propose concept related to the themes of democracy, human rights and freedoms to be implemented on their home campuses during late April-early May
- Attend the European Conference in Kristiansand. FORTHEM scholarship is available for 4 students per university.
- Individual students or student groups are interest in adding to Democracy Week on your campus, – we will help you to get involved on your campus.
Academic staff can propose event ideas or concepts for Democracy week 2025:
- Participate as speaker or panel member, digitally or in Kristiansand.
- Collaborate on preparing discussion topics for the live events.
- Plan and record an online seminar about a topic related to their field.
Key Dates:
- Democracy week 2024 will be held 2-6 May 2025.
- Activities and campaigns you propose can take place in the weeks around these dates.
- Application deadline 10 February.
Selection:
Students who apply to travel to Agder will be selected based on their motivational letter.
Students contributing on their campus will also be prioritized to receive the FORTHEM Scholarship.
