Registration period for the academic year 2018/2019

The registration period for the transversal training activities for the academic year 2018/2019 will be open from 11th December 2018 at 10.00 a. m. to 28th December 2018 at 2 p. m.

What are transversal training activities?

While the core doctoral activity is research, doctoral programmes include other training activities covering both transversal training and specific training in the field of each programme.

In order to know the compulsory and optional activities recognised by each doctoral programme, their duration or equivalent load in hours and the minimum number of hours to be carried out, the doctoral candidate should consult the programme's website ("Structure" section, subsections "Transverse activities" and "Specific activities") and the indications of the Academic Committee and his/her tutor.

Specifically, in the case of transverse training activities, each academic year the Doctoral School approves the general offer and publishes it on its website. Approved transverse activities are offered in one or more editions depending on the expected number of students, with different dates, profiles and languages. All the editions are taken in distance learning mode (on-line), have a duration equivalent to 15 hours and are taught through the Virtual Classroom of the UV for approximately two weeks.

Registration for the transverse training activities is free of charge and currently takes place through the platform of the Servei de Formació Permanent i Innovació Educativa (SFPIE) (which is accessed with the University student’s user and password) during the application period approved by the Doctoral School and announced each academic year on its website.

Before registering, it is important to consult the offer approved in the academic year and plan the activities and specific editions that you want to study, taking into account the following aspects:

  • Each student can register for a single edition of each activity. If you do not pass the course successfully, you will not be allowed to register once again until the next academic year.
  • If you haven't been able to enrol in one edition of the trasnverse activitie you are interested in, you will have to wait to the next academic year. Only in the case that you are defensing the thesis in due course, you should send an e-mail to, expressing your interest to be registered in the waiting list.
  • The description of each edition specifies the dates, the working language and, if applicable, the profile of the student to whom it is addressed by academic areas (humanities, basic sciences, social sciences, etc.).
