Universitat de València Chair for Agri-food Cooperatives published the results of the 7th Award for Best Academic Project on Agri-food Cooperatives in the 2023-2024 academic year a prize to recognise university research in the agri-food cooperatives sector. The results were emitted by the Evaluation Committee during its meeting on 26 September 2025.
The official award ceremony took place during the Chair’s Yearly Conference celebrated in the city of Cuenca, during a gathering of sector professionals and institutional representatives. In the act, Head of the Chair Pilar Alguacil gave the award to the winners along with team members and collaborators from Agri-food cooperatives.
Results
The Evaluation Committee consisting of Pilar Alguacil Marí (UVEG), Gabriel Trenzado Falcón (Spain Agri-food Cooperatives) and Alba Pérez Pérez (General Director’s Office of Social Economy and CSR of the Spanish Government) analysed the presented projects under the criteria of scientific rigor, originality, complexity, references and formal quality according to the official report (evaluation table on the 2th page).
The Committee decided to give the prize ex aequo to:
- Irene Martínez López – Doctoral thesis: ‘Agrifood cooperatives: performance and social capital as a governance mechanism’ (University of Oviedo).
- Carmen Guarner Giner – Degree Final Project: ‘L’espai a una escala contínua: les equacions diferencials parcials estocàstiques i el mètode dels elements finits per a la desagregació espacial de l’ús del sòl agrícola a Europa’ (Universitat de València).
Both of these projects achieve the maximum score, with particular scientific contribution and the added value of research to agri-food cooperatives sector.

With this award, the Chair strengthens its mission to promote university research on cooperativisim, academic dissemination of knowledge and collaboration between universities and agri-food sector.
