Signing the agreement at the Universitat de València

The Green Horizon Chair: Water-Bioenergy Nexus has become a reality in the Universitat de València. By signing this agreement, the UV, FACSA and SITRA have officially marked the beginning of this initiative which seeks to promote research, training and knowledge transfer in the key fields for ecological transition: water, biowastes and bioenergy.

The university principal, María Vicenta Mestre, and institutional representatives from the university and cooperating companies signed the agreement during the act required by protocol, which was hosted at the Universitat de València. This meeting symbolises their shared commitment to promote innovative solutions that contribute towards more sustainable management of resources and developing a circular economy low on carbon.

The Green Horizon Chair is developed as a stable cooperation space between the university and the business sector with the goal of bringing research closer to the real challenges faced by the water and bioenergy sectors. Its main goals are to develop new technologies for treating sewages and organic wastes, improving the energetic valuation processes and promoting solution towards reducing environmental impact and greenhouse gases emissions.

Besides conducting research, training and educating will also be one of the Chair’s focus. Students from the Universitat de València will have the opportunity to actively participate in projects linked to sustainability, bioeconomy, and innovation in technology, as well as usual undergraduate and master’s degree final projects, industrial doctorates, technical conferences and dissemination activities.

With this initiative, the Universitat de València, FACSA and SITRA reinforce their commitment to the goals established by the European Green Deal and to developing solutions that contribute to managing water and energy in a more efficient, circular and resilient way. The Green Horizon Chair thus aspires to become the benchmark in acquiring and transferring knowledge to society.
