Review

The Chair of the Economy of the Common Good at the Universitat de València, created in 2017, continues to lead the way in this unique subject in Spain. During the interview with Infosos, its director, Jaime Güemes, and the economist Beatriz Medina shared their thoughts on the evolution and objectives of the Chair.

The conversation focused on the proposal of the Economy of the Common Good, which prioritises social and environmental sustainability. Güemes highlighted the importance of evaluating not only the economic performance of companies, but also their impacts on social justice and the environment. Medina also pointed out that this approach is aligned with recent European sustainability directives and underlined the need for a shift in business practices towards a more responsible model.

Both experts addressed current concerns around environmental regulation and the challenge for companies to adopt more sustainable practices without compromising their profitability. In addition, they shared the Chair's vision of promoting training and awareness-raising at the academic level and in society in general.
