The Chair of Basketball offers a new Training Day for Coaches

L’Alqueria del Basket keeps on proving that its commitment with training goes beyond the court.

The Basketball Chair, one of the many initiatives of L’Alqueria del Basket, presents a new ‘Valencia Innovation Day’ this June, organised along with the Universitat the València. UV students and the trainers of the club have a special registration discount.

Several experts in coach training will share their knowledge in different areas on Saturday 18 May from 9:00 to 14:00 at the L’Alqueria del Basket’s central court. Both online and on-site attendance is possible. The goal of this activity is to offer resources and strategies for youth and top level sport training.

The seminar will start with a lecture by Piti Hurtado, a coach with extensive experience. From 1989 to 2018, Hurtado has coached youth teams and LEB Oro and LEB Plata teams, mainly in Extremadura, where he comes from. In recent years, he has gained popularity as a basketball analyst and commentator on television. Hurtado will give the first lecture, which is on Individual technique in training rhythm. Effective communication with the player.

Next goes Cristina Cantero, senior basketball coach. She is a Physical Activity and Sport Sciences graduate and holds a Master’s degree in Sport Business Management. Cantero, former professional player up to 2008, has renowned experience training youth teams in the Spanish selection, as well as directing the first team of the Celta Zorka, which ascended from LF Challenge to LF Endesa last season and this year obtained the permanency of their team in the highest category. Cantero is in charge of the second lecture on Reducing advantages with defensive play.

Lastly, Ricard Casas will give the third and last lecture. The coach has worked in national selections, both with youth teams and teams from the absolute Spanish selection. While working for the Spanish La Liga, he has spent a great part of his career in Catalunya, training teams such as Manresa and Valencia Basket (2005-2007). Moreover, he has international experience, having trained teams from Asia, Latin America and Africa. Casas’ lecture is titled Pick and roll. Construction and spacing in training by Ricard Casas

Registration and payment method

Registration is now open and has a price of 30 euros for the general public. Coaches of a sport club have a reduced price of 25 euros and UV students enjoy a price of 15 euros. The payment must be done through the UV site following this link:
