On March 27, took place a very interesting conference ¨Los derechos de las personas consumidoras ante la Inteligencia Artificial¨ (Consumer Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence) organized by the Asociación Tyrius de Amas de Casa y Consumidores.
More than 120 members of Tyrius filled the auditorium at AVA ASAJA all morning, showing their interest in how new technologies are transforming our daily lives as consumers and citizens.
During the main presentation, we were joined by an attentive and dedicated group of students, fully focused on not missing a single word from the director of the MESVAL Chair, José Manuel Pastor, who talked about “El poder de la Inteligencia Artificial: Revolución tecnológica con riesgos y oportunidades” (The Power of Artificial Intelligence: A Technological Revolution with Risks and Opportunities). Pastor has ilustrated with various examples what the AI can do, from everyday tasks to the most advanced ones, without forgetting what it doesn't do—or what it does poorly.
Next, took place a roundtable discussion, which, in addition to professor Pastor, featured Javier Bascuñán, Ph.D. in Education, and Manuela Pardo del Val, Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration and a collaborator with the chair, moderated by Beatriz Rodríguez Cano of Tyrius’s Legal Services. The discussion focused on the opportunities presented by AI in everyday life and the challenges our society faces as a result.
The conference was closed by Eugenia Garrigues, the president of Tyrius, that congratulated to all the participants and speakers and encouraged everyone to make artificial intelligence an ally, while always maintaining control through our own human intelligence.
