The Universitat de València, through the Chair for Economy for the Common Good has developed a study originally by the Al Detall Cooperative in collaboration with the Evoco consultant and the Vice-Rector for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy living, to evaluate the knowledge and commitment of its university community with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Between September and November 2023, 461 people were polled in the three campuses of the university and it showed the following results:
- The PDI (teaching and research staff) and PAS (services and administrative personnel) are more aware of the SDG than the students, and consider social strategies as a priority.
- Formal education is the principal source of information on the SDG, although social media is mostly used by students.
- The activities related to the SDG organised by the UV are not vastly known, specially among students.
- More than the 85% of the community is willing to make personal changes to support the SDG, although changes such as closing car parks create resistance.
- There is an important correlation between a bigger awareness and a bigger willingness to change.
