The Valencian School of Health Studies Chair EVES GSK UV organizes a masterclass on "Variability in medical practice"

Last 20th November, it took place a masterclass taught by the doctor of medicine and specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health Enrique Bernal-Delgado, who also works as Senior Investigator at the Aragonese Institute of Sciences of Health. He also collaborates with the Center of Investigation in Economy and Health (CRES) and is the director of the Spanish project Atlas of Medical Practice and the international research work ECHO.

The Conference was presented by Jose Manuel Almerich, the director of the EVES-GSK-UV Chair and had the presence of Rosario Alfonso, director of Health Matters.

The masterclass had a great reception among the audience, with an assistance of 20 people who were managers and staff of public health centers in Valencia.

The main idea of ​​Professor Bernal was aimed at emphasizing that "the health system is offering very expensive services, but that they do not add value, neither quality nor health to patients".

The doctor demonstrated with examples and practical cases the importance of harmonizing expenses and income and that the health system does things that should not to be done, pointing out as objective to reduce variations to "increase value, effectiveness, efficiency and quality of the system".
