The Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil) and the Universitat de València recently signed a cooperation agreement. The alliance allows for joint teaching, research and extension actions, in addition to other initiatives that involve researchers from both institutions.
According to Professor Rodrigo Koch, legal representative of the UERGS in the agreement, the first actions of the collaboration will be carried out within the scope of the Institut de Creativitat i Innovacions Educatives (IUCIE), which has five research groups: Cultural Pedagogies; Memory of Slavery, Colonialism and Legacies; Musical Education and Creativity; Youth, Social Change and Work; and Critical Theory. Professor Koch was in contact with the IUCIE during his postdoctoral studies, when he was researching the sporting customs of Valencians. The study was carried out in the Sociology of Sports research line, under the supervision of Professor Benno Herzog, director of the Institute.
Cooperation allows the exchange of knowledge mainly in the areas of Education, Sociology and Environment. In addition to exchanges and training and improvement actions for teachers and researchers, the agreement provides for opportunities for joint research, courses, seminars, conferences, workshops and publications.
