The excavation of the site of la Mola d’Agres that is compiled in the video belongs to the 2014 campaign, financed by the Directorate General of Historical Heritage of the Valencian Department of Culture of the Valencian Government. It was directed by Elena Grau and Jose Luis Peña, the two professors of the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology of the Universitat de València. The members of the excavation who participated are students of the Degree in History, of the Master’s Degree in Archaeology and of Doctoral Programme Studies of our university.

Among the most significant results we can indicate the confirmation of occupation levels of the village from the Calcolithic and continuation during the Bronze Age, as well as the presence of remains of more modern ages, as it is the case of the Andalusí period and the Modern period, which broke some prehistoric structures.

The objectives of the campaign were to continue the excavation of the village of la Mola d’Agres aiming to complete the information we had on its occupation. After a great task and a great participation they found many elements that allowed for drawing conclusions. Among the most significant results we can indicate the confirmation of occupation levels of the village from the Calcolithic and continuation during the Bronze Age, as well as the presence of remains of more modern ages, as it is the case of the Andalusí period and the Modern period, which broke some prehistoric structures. This site is studied from an interdisciplinary perspective and samples of materials were collected to continue with the archaeobotanical, zooarchaeological, sedimentological and archaeological (ceramics, lithic material) analysis, as well as image documentation (drawings and photographs) to analyse the planimetrics of the site.

The video of this post was made by Francisco Vioque, former student of the Master’s Degree in Archaeology during the 2013-2014 academic year. This student went to dig with the rest of the team during the September 2014 campaign to carry out the module of the work placements the master’s degree includes. He carried out his Master’s Degree Final Project on the applications of the Drones in Archaeology and took advantage of some of these excavations to film this video. A compilation of experiences that show the great task of journalism, the beauty of this profession and the moments experienced in an excavation. This is why the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology considered appropriate, with the approval of the student, including the video in the website of the Department.
