One of the main objectives of private companies is the economic benefit of their activity. In the last years private companies are adapting their values and assuming a social responsibility in order to give the business consideration for citizens and environment.

In the world of economy converge very different values, opinions, ideologies and trends. One of these trends of study focused on asking which role have the different areas of economy in the society. The private sector has as its main objective the obtaining of benefits in the market, a fact that it is not always negative for all citizens.

A test of the McKinsey institute ensures that companies have an increasing influence on social problems or environment, and they transmit a series of positive values through their activities. Private companies, that carry out lucrative activities and haven’t seen the necessity of considering these values until now, are acquiring the obligation of maintaining a commitment with society.

Researches on the long-term effects of capitalism show that companies pay more attention to the effects and consequences of their activity and try to care for their role in the social area. “In the long term, interests of plaintiffs converge with the interests of the general community”, say the authors of the report.

The constant changes of the societies in an interconnected world need that companies assume their social and environmental responsibility and care for the benefits of their investor and also for the social benefits they can contribute with their activity.

Citizens benefit from these positive effects that also act in favour of the companies encouraging the pillar of sustainability of their activity in all levels of the business process.

During the last 20 years, the economy private area focused on the relationship between the company, their investors and their clients. The authors of the McKinsey institute test indicate that in the next 20 years the efforts of companies will  focus on the construction of sustainable social networks with a continuous interaction with the society and concern for all their problems. In this way, the confluence of interests between private companies and citizens will lead the efforts to a panorama where common benefits from all the parts involved in the current social and economic systems functioning can be  obtained.
