The professor of the Master's Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economy Asensi Descalç has published two studies on the tourist tax and wealth taxation in the 'Àgora' collection of the Fundació Nexe.
Asensi Descalç is professor of the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València, and member of the Economics Laboratory of the Nexo Foundation. He has recently been the subject of several interviews published in the media on the two studies he has presented:
The article on “La aplicación de un impuesto turístico en el País Valenciano. Reflexiones desde la economía”, published in Ágora 4, is a discussion paper where the author reflects on the appropriateness of applying a tax on tourist overnight stays in our territory, and provides reasons for the equity and efficiency of the tax system. He details how the tax should be applied to the different levels or categories of accommodation, distinguishing between coastal tourism and inland rural tourism.
On the other hand, the article “Imposición patrimonial. El contexto español y una propuesta para el País Valenciano”, published in Ágora 5, addresses the key role played by wealth taxation in any tax system that aims to achieve tax justice and redistribution and focuses on analysing wealth tax and inheritance and gift tax.
