Concha Salvador and Carlos Ochando, professors of the Master's Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics, were part of the study committee for a legislative proposal on the reform of the pension system in the Congress of Deputies promoted by a political party.

Pensions play a key role in the quality of life of people in a country by providing them with a replacement income when their active working life has come to an end or when they have suffered an event that prevents them from working and generating income for themselves.

2018 has certainly been a turbulent year in the field of public pensions, marked by frequent protests by pensioners. In this context, the political group Podemos is preparing a bill to unify the different benefits that currently exist into a single guaranteed minimum income, which in turn would be compatible with the minimum incomes already in force in some Autonomous Communities.

Carlos Ochando and Concha Salvador are part of the Committee for the study for this legislative proposal to reform the pension system. Both are professors in the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València, specialists in the field of pensions and have published and written articles on this subject.
