
Carlos Ochando, professor at the Department of Applied Economics and director of the Master's Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics, shared his knowledge on public pensions in one of the debates open to society in the series organised by Iniciativa-Compromís.
Carlos Ochando holds a doctorate in Economics and Business Administration from the Universitat de València and is currently Professor of Economic Policy in the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València. His interest in the analysis of the organisation and results of public policies has led him to focus his teaching and lecturing activity on these issues, especially on social policies, both at the Universitat de València and at other universities, including the University of Havana, the Universidad de Oriente (Cuba), the Universitat Politécnica de València and the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). He has also spent time as a visiting professor at the University of South Bank University of London, the University of Chile and as an external researcher at the European University Institute in Florence.
His main research concerns have also focused on these issues, and he has published several articles and books on issues related to income policy, income distribution, the organisation and results of the welfare state, and the institutional reforms carried out in the social security systems of various countries. His main publications related to the welfare state include: El Estado del bienestar: objetivos, modelos y teorías explicativas, Ed. Since 2020 he has been Director of the Master's Degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics at the Universitat de València.
